FINALLY

After weeks and weeks of wondering when in the hell the College Football Playoff Committee would respect Wisconsin, we FINALLY get what we're waiting for as a fanbase. An undefeated Wisconsin is FINALLY in the Top 4 of the Top 25 CFP Rankings. Week in and week out, the Badgers have proved themselves as a top tier competitor. Sure, there's questions at the quarterback position with Hornibrook being so inconsistent, but this team is complete. The defense is one of the top in the country and Jonathan Taylor has been voted the B1G Freshman of the week a record breaking EIGTH time . Taylor has been talked as potentially being a fifth Heisman candidate, that's how good the kid is. We had 13 players nominated for First, Second, and Third team All Big Ten, and a handful of Honorable Mentions (for reference, Nebraska had zero). My point is, I'm glad the Committee has finally seen that we're a team that deserves the spot we EARNED. We beat our opponents (ranked or unranked) ...

Grateful Red

After watching the first three Wisconsin Badgers basketball games of the seasons, I thought it to be necessary to divulge number one, my love for them, and number two, the fact that they are the underdogs of NCAA men's basketball. Last night, the boys took an L against a very good Xavier team. But, if you watched, you learned a lot. Here's what I took in.  Brad Davison can take literally any shot he wants and he'll probably make it. You may not know that he's a freshman from Minnesota and was a quarterback of his high school football team. The kid is insane. He's something special and I can't wait to see what he does for Wisconsin basketball.  If you double Ethan Happ, he'll find a way to make an assist. If you double Ethan Happ, he'll also find a way to score on you, even if he's under the glass.  Khalil Iverson is the silent dunk assassin.  Aleem Ford can come off the bench, shoot the 3, and make it more than once. He'll be important com...

The College Football Playoff Rankings

College football fans finally have what they've been wanting; the playoff rankings! Now in my opinion, the playoffs need to be expanded from four teams to allow a more competitive edge. The NCAA and Committee will get there, once they see some more $$$ coming out of the four team playoff. So, four teams or eight, I'm here to break it down. 1. Georgia - If there's any fan base that is shocked to see themselves at the top, it's UGA. Coming off of a 42-7 demolition of Florida, the Bulldogs have been red hot so far this season. Other notable wins include a one point close call versus Notre Dame and 41 point shut out of Tennessee. Their starting lineup consists of mainly seniors, which is always a recipe for success when you're an SEC team. I don't expect to see them at the number one spot, with Bama and Ohio State coming for blood. 2. Alabama - Do I really need to analyze this? Not really, so I'm not going to go into too much detail. Bama is a top contender ...

Barstool Sports vs. Everybody Else

This weekend I had full intentions to go to the Red & White Scrimmage at UW-Madison to get a general idea of how the basketball team will be this season. So I could, you know, write about sports. Well, a hangover from peach bellini vodka and cranberry juice won, and I napped on the couch for basically the whole day. I had been thinking I was going to have absolutely NO content to discuss this week, since I slept through all the football games, the World Series isn't set to start until today, the Bulls don't give me much to talk about right now, etc., etc. Then, much to my surprise, the sports gods answered and my favorite blog site (besides mine duh), Barstool Sports, was done dirty by ESPN by cancelling Barstool Van Talk  (you'll see me refer to this as BVT throughout the post) after one episode. For those of you who don't know, Barstool Sports  is a multifunctional sports blog. I say multifunctional because their content has expanded from creating content sole...

"Hooray sports! Do the thing! Win the points!"

If you've come here because I shamelessly requested you read my blog, then welcome! If you're here by chance and chance only, then welcome to you too! My name is Kayla, for those of you who don't know me, and I'm a Chicago sports fan living in Wisconsin, which is as painstaking as you think it might be. I'm writing this fresh off of a Cubbies loss in the NLCS, but I have no words so we'll just go ahead and skip that take (other than we had no bullpen so...). I decided that there aren't enough women involved in sports blogging, so I wanted to go ahead and start my own.  I interpret the quote "Hooray sports! Do the thing! Win the points!" as satire. If, like my mom, you're unfamiliar with this or the term "sportsball" (I'm talking to you, Super Bowl party goers that don't actually like or enjoy football), they are often used by people who are not necessarily educated on the sport they are watching. Or, if you're like some...
